The Contempt and Bitterness of Virginia Woolf Exposed in A Room of One's Own Virginia Woolf refuses the role society prescribes her. She stands up against glass ceilings, separate spheres, and double standards-cultural institutions that create and uphold a weaker sex. In her writing, specifically "A Room of One's Own," she manifests her contempt and bitterness by advocating "it is necessary [for women] to have five hundred [pounds] a year and a lock on the door if you are to write fiction or poetry" (769). However, to break and step above the institutions she criticizes, Woolf knows she cannot simply complain about her brothers' years at Oxford while she stayed home with tutors-that would lead an audience to believe "she has an axe to grind" (quoted in Bartholomae and Petrosky, 750). Rather, she must strive for the calm collectedness of her male academic counterparts. This presents a problem for Woolf: how does she convey the oppression of women-the passion behind her work-through an objective and level voice? She needed a vehicle that could be neutral yet em otional, provocative but wise. Ultimately, Woolf needed a mask: one that mimicked the reserved quality of men, yet allowed her to bare the thoughts of a woman subjected to society's mechanisms. Woolf found her solution in the persona "Mary Beton, Mary Seton, Mary Carmichael, or byanynarneyouplease"(751). Mary,Mary,orMary,quitecontrarytoWoolf, is a superb ballerinas prima donna of the highest caliber-she was sent to the front of the class not for punishment, but to set the par. On a less frequent basis she remembers one girl who was in her class for a short time. Marital Bliss
Have you ever sat down and thought about the evolution of marriage? If we take a quick look, It seems very unreal to say that marriage does and as changed over the last centuries. There was a time where married couples took the time to write love letters, there was a time where married couple took the time to go out. But as the world around us evolved, so did technology. As technology evolved, it became easier to do daily errands. But at the same time, it made us ââ¬Å"lazar, which had an effect on those wow were married.No longer did marriage become meaningful. Nowadays everybody is focused on their phones and on looking at the ways other people live through social media. Being married in the 21st century often means having to deal with a vast majority of problems. With so many changes occurring around us constantly, it becomes hard to avoid the factors that affect us. Now, everyone seems to be focused on social media and about the life's of others rather than caring for each other . People are also sought up always being busy with work and errands.Another factor that affects marriage in the 21st century Is also the children, with ore and m ore marriages between people with different culture take place, It become very hard to raise a child If It the cultural aspects collapse. Yet, another reason why marriage In the 21 SST century doesn't work out s because people get married because they are afraid of being alone. Instead of marrying the ones they really love, they get engaged with the men they don't. USE SOURCE 2 Arguments begin to arise when couples no longer pay attention to each other.Often times the other partner begins to feel insecure about themselves or they may begin to question homeless if they are doing a good Job on being married. A new concept that has been introduced within marriage is called marital bliss. Marital bliss is the belief that marriages can be saved and worked out if they follow certain steps and rules in order to maintain happiness and peace. Like Renee Clouding Hanson, Ph. D. , said, If marriages are worked out together by both partners It will thrive but if not It will fall. 3) Certain ways to produce a marital bliss Is to have good communication, to listen to the partner, think It through before something Is said. The concept of marital bliss, Is n effective way of having a happy marriage, not only that but it can help save a marriages as well. Although this can be done, at the long run it depends f the married couple really want to be together or not. It is known relationships are not perfect and are not always effective. In life one is bound to have problems.Specifically, people have their differences and once they don't agree on something it builds a sense of inequalities and BLANK. It is said that problems are only meant to make two people stronger but for some other people, having arguments and inequalities destroy a relationship. Something that has been introduced to an engaged couple is prenuptial co ntracts. Prenuptial agreements Is defined as ââ¬Å"a contract between two people who are about to marry regarding their respective property and support rights upon termination of the marriage by divorce or death, and sometimes regarding property rights during the marriageâ⬠. 1 Prenuptial agreement should definitely be allowed to consult upon marriage. As the had an agreement as to what will take place after the divorce, rather than having constant arguments. Thus this prenuptial agreement, is a good idea, it can also send message to married people that it is alright to become divorce if in fact they already have the aftermath settled. In reality, this prenuptial agreement should not affect a marriage if it is tee love that they have most each other.Should engaged couples be able to sign the prenuptial agreement? Yes they should because instead of people having a marital bliss, they should face reality and understand that not all marriages work out perfectly. And instead of hav ing a bigger problem once already divorced about the property, an agreement should be made before. If the love is real, then having sign the prenuptial agreement should not really affect the way the marriage works out. What is marital bliss?Becoming ignorant and not facing the real problems in front of you and conforming oneself with being happy. Should you experience inequality within a marriage? Inequality and arguments are something that should definitely be present in a marriage. Married people are not 100 percent the same, or share the same likes or dislikes and might even disagree in many things, so it is important to have inequalities with in a marriage and solve them after to only make the relationship stronger. 2017 has been full of great movies. This list would be longer if I really wanted to take a lot of time out of your day, so I will stick to the very best Ive had the pleasure to see this year. I have no doubt that I will regret not putting one or two films on here, and Im sure I will regret putting a film or two on this list. One film has an actor who did horrible stuff to people in real-life that makes me not want it on here, but its just too damn good. Here are Social Undergrounds best films of 2017: Get Out Get Out received universal acclaim from critics this year, and for good reason. His main evil character was truly evil, but the sympathy and motivation of that character made the film even better. Baby Driver So, about Kevin Spacey. Watching this movie again is hard -- just as his others are now -- because he did some gross stuff to others. Him aside, the movie is brilliant. Its an achievement in writing, directing and editing. Some of the timing of the shots look like they shouldve took weeks to set up for only 1 minute of footage. Edgar Wright proves he a genius when it comes to clever filmmaking. He can take a boring line of dialogue in a film and turn it into visual comedy or action. Wonder Woman Probably the only film in the DCEU that people can agree was good. Wonder Woman is part of something bigger, but it can stand alone because of how it doesnt really need anything else to be associated with it. The chemistry between the characters, the directing of Patty Jenkins (who was snubbed at the Golden Globes), and the sheer fun of the movie makes it one of the years best. Wind River Yet another home run by writer/director Taylor Sheridan. Wind River tells a simple murder mystery, but exceeds because of the exposition of the characters involved. Thats what he does best. I am writing this essay to convince you that school hours should be cut for all Senior Primary students so that the day ends at 12pm. To persuade you to adopt my position regarding this suggestion I will be addressing the following topics; fatigue factor, saving money and also supporting the family income. Teachers are constantly trying to keep their classes on task and motivated. A task made harder and harder as the day wears on. Students become restless and disruptive as they become fatigued during the day. By finishing at 12pm students will be motivated to learn as the information for the day must be packed tightly into many shorter lessons, leaving no time for distraction or disruption. By introducing a 12pm finish time, schools would be saving thousands of dollars a year in Electricity as the seven Senior Primary classes would not require lights or computers after 12pm. Furthermore the school would also save on excess water costs as the 180 students would not be draining the schools water resources through their drinking and toileting. A 12pm finish time makes huge financial sense to running a school successfully. Currently we are living in a Global Financial Crisis, and management of and saving of money is important not only at the school level, but also at the family level. By closing Senior Primary classes at 12pm families in the Middle Park area will open up new opportunities for gaining a family income. Although not of ââ¬Å"ageâ⬠to be employed, Senior Primary classes could be given a special work permit that would enable them to be employed in jobs that others are reluctant to take up, including picking up rubbish in the street, cleaning toilets at the shops etc. The money they earn would be automatically added to their parentââ¬â¢s pay slip, thus increasing the family take home pay, another huge benefit to closing Senior Primary at 12pm. I have discussed in this essay only three reasons why the Senior Primary school day should be shortened to end at 12pm. The eradication of student fatigue, the tightening of expenditure on school resources as well as the earning potential of SP students and the follow on financial benefit for the family income are all very real and hopefully persuasive arguments. Taking these into consideration, surely we should all be in agreement that the school day must end at 12pm.

In every organization, there are some gaps in the HR planning due to the managerial issue and massive loss of the business in the competitive market. One of the major areas of HR planning is the development of workforce planning in an organization. However, workforce planning defines the HR practice in an organization. In the context of Woolworths, they plan their HR practices to gain competitive advantages in the global market. HR planning of this organization helps to manage the entire operation process of this organization. In order to develop workforce planning proper training and development program are established in Woolworths by the HRM department (Wowcareers.com.au, 2017). Woolworths offers clothing and merchant training program in their organization to enhance the skills of the employees. In the Western Australia Woolworths provides this training to enhance their fashion marketing. The duration of this training is 18 to 24 months. Development of the HR philosophies is another HR planning of Woolworths. However, the HR management teams need to adopt a proper philosophy to manage the workforce in an organization (Cullen et al., 2013). In the recent years, employee disengagement is a big barrier of the Woolworths that resists this organization to enhance the efficiency of the employees. Woolworths focuses on the innovation and creation in the workplace as an HR philosophy, which is a major part of their HR planning in this organization. On the other hand, the establishment of the flexible HR design is a crucial part of the HR planning. Woolworths focuses on the employment management team in order to enhance the skill and knowledge of the individuals. On the other hand, development of the management skill and capabilities are major areas of the HR planning. In the context of Woolworths, the HR department focuses on the improvement of line management capabilities in their organization. Recruitment strategies Every organization needs a strong recruitment in their organization to identify the desirable candidate for their organization (Kalugina Shvydun, 2014). Woolworths carries out their recruitment process based on the availability of the job positions. However, their selection process is very transparent and the candidates are recruited based on their merit. This organization is abide by Equal Employment Opportunity and Anti-Discrimination Act. On the other hand, this organization maintains the privacy of the employees while dealing with the personal information. However, the HR department of this organization is responsible to maintain the regularity of the staff position. Despite having such strong recruitment process Woolworths has been facing several challenges regarding their HR planning and recruitment. One of the major drawbacks of the HR planning is the employee disengagement that affects the HRM activities in this organization. Sourcing of recruitment Woolworths recruits from both internal and external labor market. However, the internal recruitment process refers to the transfer and promotion of the existing employees in an organization (Woolworthsgroup.com.au, 2017). In the context of Woolworths, they promote the employees in a new position who are on the payroll of this organization. The promotion occurs when the vacancies arise in the organization. On the other hand, often Woolworths transfer the employees from one place to another in a similar job position. On the other hand, often this organization uses the reference from the employees during the recruitment, which is known as internal sources. External sources refer to the external agencies that often provide candidates to Woolworths for their desired position. However, this external source of recruitment saves the time of an organization during searching candidates for the job position. HR planning challenges in the context of Woolworths Labor supply and demand Labor supply and demand is one of the major issues faced by Woolworths. However in the present day scenario, this is becoming a major problem due to various reasons like globalization, economy, lesser compensation, workplace strikes, payment issues and many other such problems (Lai et al .,2016). The company is often unable to make proper assumptions regarding the future labor supply. Often there are problems like unfilled vacancies or drain of employees as well. Demographic issues like ageing workforce As the pensionable ages have been raised by many EU governments, employees are being retained in their work fields for a longer period of time. However this can create many problems because it hinders the recruitment of the new younger employees. This often leads to many strikes or deadlocks that hamper the production of the company. On the other hand, as the employees grow older and can lose their skills. Apart from this, they may also suffer from boredom, lack of interest or from some frequent health issues which will also affect the overall production of Woolworths (Woolworthsgroup.com.au, 2017). Diversity Workforce diversity is of utmost importance. The overall production of Woolworths can also get hampered if there is a lack of respect and mutual understanding among the workforce. Frequent conflicts or misunderstandings can hamper the team spirit and this will ultimately affect the production. Challenges regarding the recruitment in Woolworths Sourcing from internal and external labor market Internal sourcing like sudden transferring of employees may cause discomfort and demonization. Some employees may inculcate a feeling of jealousy among others. If the criteria for promotion are age and seniority, it might make the younger employees demotivated and jealous. Internal recruitment might not always provide apt employees for the vacant posts. External recruitment of employees can create workplace conflicts and maladjustments. New employees might find it tough to adjust themselves with the new ambience or with the older co workers. Employer branding Woolworths has a good employer reputation as it offers promotions to its employees along with several other benefits. However there are often workplace conflicts because of the external recruitments which might affect the goodwill and brand reputation (Foster, 2013). Conclusion Thus, it can be concluded that HR recruitment and planning is one of the most important factor for the smooth functioning of the company. It is for this reason that they also need to recruit efficient and skilled labors. However due to various treasons like ageing, diversity recruitment and Hr planning is getting affected. Recommendations Older employees can be retained but at the same time the young employees must also be given their chance through fair recruitment. Promotions (internal sourcing) must be made not only based on age but on experience as well. Recruitment of employees must be done without any bias and in a just manner.
